I hit 500 posts on this forum and it made me question the whole 'engagement' thing.

Yeah, it's like that everywhere now. You start chasing likes or post counts without even meaning to, and then you stop and feel kind of empty about it. I see it with my friends just scrolling and tapping on their phones all day, not really talking. The number becomes the whole point, and the actual conversation just disappears.

Right, the number becomes the whole point. My feed is just people posting their dinner next to a window for better lighting, not because the meatloaf is that interesting but because they need that little hit from the notification icon. We're all just lab rats pushing a lever for digital pellets.
