The $8 hose clamp trick that fixed a coolant leak I chased for 2 days
Had a 2012 F-150 come in with a slow drip near the thermostat housing. Replaced the housing, new gasket, torqued everything to spec, still leaked. Was about to pull the whole intake manifold when an old timer at the parts store told me to try a spring clamp instead of the screw type. Swapped it out and not a drop since. Anyone else ever had a simple clamp style make that big of a difference?

Swear to god I chased a similar leak on my old Chevy for a whole weekend, replaced everything but the radiator itself, and it turned out to be the same stupid thing. Screw clamps just don't bite the same on that soft rubber hose once it gets a little heat cycle on it. You know you're in deep when you start eyeballing the parts store guy like he's a wizard for suggesting a $3 spring clamp. Next thing you know I'll be paying someone to swap all my clamps just so I don't have to look at the things.
