I finally stopped insisting open carriers were fine after a guy in Fargo showed me his rocker panel
I used to argue with anyone who said enclosed shipping was worth the extra money, mostly because I moved a $9,000 Civic from Portland to Minneapolis in 2022 on an open trailer and it arrived clean. Then last month a guy at a truck stop in Fargo pulled up next to me in a 2021 Silverado and showed me where a chunk of gravel had punched through the paint behind his rear wheel, and he said the carrier just shrugged and pointed at his signed condition report. Am I wrong for thinking the industry should at least warn people about this upfront instead of hiding behind the paperwork?
