Semi truck hauler math is wild, see the numbers
Was looking into moving a little coupe from Austin to Denver and stumbled on the loaded vs empty trailer weight thing. A standard 8 car hauler can weigh around 35,000 lbs when full, but the truck itself is only like 18,000 lbs empty. That means the cargo is nearly the same weight as the whole rig, kinda blew my mind. Also DOT requires a CDL for anything over 26,000 lbs GVWR, so most of those ramps are always right on that line. Does anyone else check carrier safety scores before booking or do you just go with the cheapest quote?
