inHot take: I paid $80 for a "router security scan" app from a guy on a podcast and it just checked if my WiFi was on
Paid $80 and got told your WiFi was on. That's on you for trusting a podcast ad. The guy probably made bank off that. Free router admin page does more, yeah, but most folks never log into it. They don't know the IP, don't know the password, don't know what WPA2 even means. So a dumb app that at least gets them to look at their network is not nothing. You paid for a reminder to care. Worth $80? No. Worth something? Sure.

inDropped $85 on a hand crank radio two winters back, and when the ice storm hit in Springfield I was the only one on my block who knew what was going on
Same here, @joseph_adams66, kept a little battery one in my kitchen drawer for years and it saved us during that big outage two winters back. We got nothing on the phone but the AM news station came in clear as day, so we knew which roads were closed and when the crews were coming. My kids thought I was nuts for hanging onto it until that night. Best 25 bucks I ever spent, honestly.

inThe setup guy at my shop in Dayton showed me one dumb trick for indicating a vise, and it cut my setup time in half
Been eyeballing my vise for 3 years, turns out I was doing it wrong.
