I finally stopped buying cheap coax connectors

Spent $60 on a bulk pack of budget BNC connectors last month and had to re-crimp half of them within a week. The center pins kept pulling out on a King radio install. Has anyone else had luck with the name-brand ones holding up better?

Used to swear by cheap connectors until three failed on a big install, switched and never looked back.

Totally feel your pain on this one. I bought a big box of cheap PL-259 connectors for a job once and ended up tossing half of them because the center pin would just slide right out. It's such a waste of time and money when you have to go back and redo everything. I finally switched over to Amphenol and Belden connectors a few years back and honestly haven't had one fail on me since. The crimp holds tight and the threads feel way more solid, not all crunchy and loose. It's one of those things where you pay a little more upfront but save yourself a ton of headache later on.

Nobody's mentioned checking for plating thickness - cheap connectors hide thin copper under gold.
