I was using a cheap multimeter for continuity checks on a 787 panel for months

A lead mechanic in Seattle asked why my readings were so jumpy, then showed me his Fluke 87V. The difference in stable readings on the same circuit was immediate. Anyone else get burned by a basic tool on a complex system?

Yeah that's so true with everything now, you get what you pay for. I see it all the time with people trying to use those free home inspection apps instead of hiring a real pro. Saves you fifty bucks but then you miss a huge foundation crack lol. Good tools just cut through the noise and show you what's actually going on.

What's the point of saving fifty bucks if you're just buying a bigger problem later? Those apps are basically fancy guesswork. You can't replace someone who actually knows how a house works.
