I bought a $35 multimeter off Amazon back in March to test wiring on a King Air job in Tulsa. It read 12.4 volts on a breaker feed that was actually dead, so I chased a ghost for two whole days before borrowing a Fluke from the hangar next door. That cheap meter lied about continuity too, said good when the splice was open. Now I stick with a $400 used Agilent and test every meter against a known resistor before I trust it. Anyone else get burned by bargain test gear on a pressurized aircraft?
