A quiet dinner at The Blue Heron turned into a public scene I'll never forget.

My date spent the entire meal loudly arguing with his ex on the phone, his voice carrying across the whole restaurant in Portland. I ended up paying for my own salad and just walking out, leaving him there still talking. Has anyone else had a date completely ignore you for a phone call?

What's worse, a loud phone fight or the silent treatment from a date who's just scrolling? At least you got a story out of it. I would've taken his bread basket on the way out.

That salad at The Blue Heron probably cost you twenty bucks and your whole evening. I had a guy take a work call mid-appetizer once, and he just held up a finger like I was supposed to wait silently. The real problem is they think any call is more important than the person right in front of them. Walking out was the only move you had left.
