Mixing up meeting spots was a classic date fail before GPS.
Now, with maps on our phones, we only have ourselves to blame for being late.

Ever have GPS lead you somewhere slower than just asking a person?

The part about GPS making us only blame ourselves for being late is spot on. A friend of mine last week trusted his phone to find a new cafe downtown. It took him on a route with so many back streets and turns that he arrived 20 minutes late. That's exactly what oscar_lopez meant about GPS sometimes being slower than asking a person. He missed the first part of his meeting, and everyone was already there. It's frustrating how we rely on technology that can still lead us astray.

Yeah when you said it took him on back streets, that hit home. I mean last month my GPS tried to send me behind a strip mall to find some new brewery, total dead end. Now I always check the map view first to see if the route looks normal, and if it's looking weird I'll just ask someone outside a gas station or something. Idk maybe it's just me but that old school ask-a-person move still saves me sometimes.
