Blew $220 on a bear can for the Sierra and now I'm mad at my own backpack
Bought a Garcia can for $220 at the ranger station in Lone Pine after my buddy swore the Ursack would get me fined, and it ate a full third of my pack space on the Rae Lakes loop. My food stayed safe, sure, but I had to strap my sleeping bag outside the pack like some rookie and my shoulders were wrecked by day two. Anyone found a route where the can actually fits without turning your pack into a jenga tower?
Ngl that ranger station price is straight up robbery. Honestly my trick is just to make my hiking partner carry the can, problem solved. Or you could go ultralight and just sleep with your food like a raccoon buffet.
