Choosing the Highline Trail over the Boulder Pass route in Glacier
I had to pick between the two for a 4-day loop last August, and went with the Highline for its easier water access. Carrying only a 1-liter bottle instead of my usual 3 saved a ton of weight. Has anyone else done the Boulder Pass section and found reliable streams later in the season?

Man, I wish I had your foresight about water weight! I did Boulder Pass in late July a few years back and spent half the trip feeling like a pack mule for my own water. The streams were pretty sad and slow that year. Honestly, my main memory is the sound of sloshing in my pack, not the amazing views. You definitely made the smarter call for an August trip.

Remember my own water mule days in Yosemite.

Carry the extra water every time. I did a dry stretch in the Sierras once and the peace of mind was worth the sloshing. You can't enjoy the view if you're thirsty.
