Met a thru hiker on the AT in Virginia who swears by 30 mile days, I think that misses the whole point
Ran into this guy at a shelter near Waynesboro around mile 860 and he bragged about cranking 30 mile days to finish the whole thing in under 100 days, and he barely stopped to talk to anyone. Half of me gets it, you only get so much time off work, but the other half thinks you miss every swimming hole and every random diner burger when you're just racing the clock. So which is it, is the trail about the miles or the moments?
