inRealized I was overcomplicating my editorial calendar after one blunt comment
Wait william_carter would your brain explode if you used sticky notes instead of a spreadsheet?

inHot take: Santa Clarita Diet deserved a proper ending not a cliffhanger
Wait hold on, Drew Barrymore isn't in Santa Clarita Diet lol that's Drew Barrymore's show was literally called Santa Clarita Diet she played Sheila. But yeah totally agree with the general point, that cliffhanger was brutal. I remember bingeing the whole thing in like two days and then just staring at my screen when the credits rolled on season 3. Netflix really dropped the ball canceling it like that when the show was finally hitting its stride with the whole zombie apocalypse stuff.

inOverheard a guy at the garden center say something that gave me chills
Interesting how you mention whiskey because I've watched friends spend hundreds on bottles they barely enjoyed, just because the distillery had a good story behind it. Do you think the marketing around these things tricks us into thinking we're experiencing something special when we're really just buying a fantasy? Sometimes it feels like the cost itself becomes part of the flavor for people.

inThat one time a old mechanic told me to stop using so much torque on oil drain plugs
Never thought about how the same logic applies to almost every threaded fastener on a truck. Hand tight plus a little extra has saved me so many headaches with brake caliper bolts too.

inJust ran the numbers on my tooling costs last quarter
@jade_singh makes a good point about splitting those categories up. I track end mills and inserts separate too, and it really shows you where the money is bleeding out. For me, inserts are always the bigger cost because I'm running a lot of hardened steel jobs, so I started buying in bulk packs from a local supplier instead of individual packs online. Another thing that helped was keeping a quick spreadsheet with tool life tracked by hours. If you notice an insert is only lasting half as long as another brand, switch it up. That $1,247 could drop by a couple hundred bucks easy once you find the right combo for your material.
