Update: finally hiked the full Pemigewasset Loop in the Whites and it took me 14 hours
Honestly I have been eyeing the Pemi Loop in New Hampshire for like two summers and kept chickening out. Last Saturday I finally did the whole thing: 31 miles, 9 peaks, started at Lincoln Woods at 4:45am and got back to my car at almost 7pm. The thing that caught my attention was the stretch between Bondcliff and Bond, where the trail just hangs off the side of the ridge. I had read about it but standing there with the wind hitting me and nothing but open rock under my feet was something else. Tbh I sat down for ten minutes and ate a smashed peanut butter sandwich just staring at Franconia Ridge across the valley. My legs were toast by the time I hit the Osseo Trail but I still made it down before dark, which was my one real goal. Has anyone else done the Pemi and gone clockwise instead? I did it counterclockwise and I keep wondering if I made the descent way harder on myself.
