Serious question, do you bail when the restaurant is loud or tough it out?
Sat through 90 minutes at a noodle spot in Phoenix where we couldn't hear each other, so I finally asked to move to the patio and she acted like I'd insulted her whole family. Is it on me for not just yelling over the music, or was asking to move the right call?
Noticed this same thing happening all over lately, not just restaurants but everywhere people go to hang out. Every new spot seems to crank the music like it's a club now, and nobody wants to say anything because it feels rude somehow. Asking to move tables is about the most polite thing you can do in that spot, way better than sitting there getting mad for an hour and a half. Sounds like the real issue was her feeling called out, which honestly is her problem and not yours.
