The dish soap trick for fried eggs that backfired hard
I tried the hack from that viral reel about adding a drop of dish soap to eggs for easier flipping, and my whole kitchen smelled like lemon detergent for 20 minutes. Has anyone else fallen for one of those 30-second cooking videos that clearly never got tested?
Lemon detergent smell for 20 minutes sounds like you used way too much, since one tiny drop in a pan of eggs should cook off almost right away. Alton Brown actually did a version of this years ago where a little soap keeps the whites from spreading too thin, so the trick itself isn't fake, people just dump in half a teaspoon and ruin everything. The real problem is those reels never show the amount, they just say "a drop" and let you guess wrong.
