Chose the RoboCop remake over the original for movie night, biggest regret of my week
I picked the 2014 version because I wanted something slick for my buddy in from Detroit, but the PG-13 rating stripped all the grit and that ED-209 stop-motion chaos is nowhere in sight, has anyone else sat through a remake that made them miss the clunky practical effects?

Remember the remake's actually a 2014 flick, so it's not that old, but you're right that it traded blood for box office. The original's stop-motion ED-209 has that janky charm that makes it feel alive, while the CGI one just looks like a video game cutscene. Maybe give the 1987 version a shot next time, it's a whole different beast even if the effects are clunkier.

Hold up, wait a second. That movie came out in 2014? I swear it felt like it was just a few years ago, not over a decade. Time's flying way too fast or something. But yeah, you nailed it about the ED-209. That clunky stop-motion thing had so much personality, it was almost like a real character. The new one just feels flat and lifeless, like they drained all the soul out of it. Maybe I'll give the old one another shot this weekend, just for the nostalgia trip.
