I just read the 2016 Ghostbusters remake cost 144 million dollars to make
I was looking up box office numbers on Box Office Mojo and saw that figure, which is way more than the original movie's budget even with inflation. It only made back about 229 million globally, which is a pretty weak return for that kind of money. Was that budget the main reason it was considered such a flop?

That marketing budget was probably half the cost right there.

Reminds me of a buddy who spent more on ads for his food truck than the actual truck cost. Wild how that works sometimes.
