Changed my mind about those fancy welding hoods after a visit to Omaha

Rick probably hasn't changed his hood since 1987 because it still works and he hates buying stuff.

Fed an AI art generator 50 of my own sketches and it spat back something I'd never draw

a mirror you didn't know you had" - what did you actually see in it that surprised you the most?

Spent $120 on a meal prep service that was pointless

Six months of HelloFresh and you're still calling yourself a terrible cook? That's the real kicker right there. People sign up for these services thinking they're buying a solution, but really they're just paying a middleman to hand them the same problem with a pretty box. It's like gym memberships in January, everyone buys the equipment or the prepped meals and convinces themselves this time will be different because they spent money. Then life happens, schedules get tight, and suddenly you're staring at a pile of overpriced garlic butter and wondering why you didn't just grab a frozen pizza. The pattern is everywhere: we pay to feel like we're taking control, but the actual work of cooking or exercising or whatever never goes away, it just costs more now.

The week last August when every single batch of bread I baked failed

Did you try putting your flour in the fridge before baking? I started keeping my flour cold during muggy months and it made a huge difference for me. That little temperature change sorted out my dough consistency faster than anything else I tried.

Figured out why my parts were coming out rough after 2 years of running the same machine

Used to think manuals were just time wasters. Now I actually read the setup guides.
