The week last August when every single batch of bread I baked failed

I had 4 loaves in a row turn out like hockey pucks because my kitchen was way too humid and I didn't even think to adjust the flour amount. Has anyone else had a whole week where baking just fought back?

Same thing happened to me last summer, four straight pizza doughs that refused to rise no matter what I tried. Never thought the humidity would mess with my yeast that badly until I checked the water temperature and realized it was way too warm from sitting out. Now I keep my flour in the fridge during muggy months and it's made a world of difference.

That "four straight pizza doughs" line hit me right in the gut, I've been there. I tried making bread during a heatwave last year and killed three batches before I figured out my kitchen was basically a sauna. I finally just gave up and bought a bag of ice cubes to throw in the water. So yeah, I feel your pain on the humidity thing, it's a real pain in the neck when you're just trying to make a decent pizza.

Did you try putting your flour in the fridge before baking? I started keeping my flour cold during muggy months and it made a huge difference for me. That little temperature change sorted out my dough consistency faster than anything else I tried.
