The day my 'Total Recall' remake watch party turned into a disaster
Last Saturday I gathered 6 friends to watch the 2012 Total Recall remake, hoping it might be better than I remembered. By minute 20, three people were on their phones. By the halfway point, two more left to play board games in the other room. The worst part was the zero chemistry between Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale, it sucked all the energy out. We ended up just talking about the 1990 original for 45 minutes instead. Has anyone else had a movie night where the remake killed the whole vibe?

The part about people switching to their phones and leaving for board games really hit home. That remake is a black hole for energy. I hosted a movie night once where we put on the 2012 Total Recall and by 30 minutes in everyone was just quietly making fun of the three-breasted mutant scene instead of watching. We ended up pulling up the original on YouTube and watching the Mars scene where the eyeballs bulge out, which got way more reactions in 5 minutes than the whole reboot did.

Wait @kai_park, Total Recall remake was 2012, not the 2000 one.
