Watching the 2016 Ghostbusters remake in a packed theater was a weird lesson

I was at the AMC in Burbank, and the whole crowd just went silent during the final fight... you could feel the disappointment. That movie didn't need to exist, it just took a great idea and made it a bad joke. Has anyone else had a remake completely ruin a theater night for them?

I used to defend that remake until I saw it with a crowd.

My buddy took his kid to see that live-action Lion King. He said the whole theater was dead quiet, like watching a nature documentary with no soul. The kid even whispered "when are the animals gonna talk?" during the stampede scene. He felt bad for spending all that money on tickets.

I was the same as riverthompson, but that shared silence in the theater really killed it for me.
