That $45 silicone baking mat was the best money I spent this year

I bought a silicone baking mat back in February after ruining a third sheet pan. It cost me $45 but it has saved me from scrinking burned sugar off pans every single week. The cookies come off perfectly every time and nothing sticks anymore. Has anyone else dropped money on a baking tool that actually paid off?

Felt the same way until mine started peeling after a few months... the nonstick layer just flaked right off onto my cookies. Had to toss it and go back to parchment paper, which honestly works better for me. Saved the $45 for something else.

I got one of those silicone mats a few years back from a garage sale for two dollars. Three years later it still works fine, no peeling no flaking. The thing is, @jesse_fisher, maybe you just got a bad batch or something. I see complaints like this online sometimes and I wonder if people are putting them in the dishwasher or cutting on them with sharp knives. They're not supposed to be indestructible. Plus for $45 you could have bought three or four cheaper ones and still had money left over. I just think it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
