The $400 sourdough starter kit that made me a believer
I used to think any starter older than my cat was pure hype, but my cousin in Boise sent me a bit from her 1998 batch and I gave it a real shot. After 6 weeks of feeding it at 7am every day, the loaves had this deep tangy crust I couldn't fake with commercial yeast no matter how long I waited. Now I'm the weirdo who names my jar and plans weekends around the rise schedule, go figure. Has anyone else been won over by an old starter after years of rolling your eyes at them?
