Clipper blade edges gone dull after 14 months, found a fix with a coffee mug
My Andis blades started pulling instead of cutting around the 14 month mark, so I tried the usual spray and oil routine but nothing helped. Then I remembered reading about using the unglazed bottom of a coffee mug to hone the edge, gave it a shot on a cheap blade first and it actually worked for touch ups. Anyone else tried this at home or am I playing with fire before a real sharpening?
The unglazed bottom of a coffee mug trick is real, I did the same thing on my old Wahl blades when they started pulling and it bought me a few more months. Just go slow and keep the blade at the same angle or you'll round off the tips. It's great for touch ups but once they're really gone you still need a pro sharpening.
