Started bulk cooking lentils after a trip to WinCo last Tuesday...

Saved me even more with the bulk spices too, crazy how fast it adds up.

Shoutout to the guy who showed me his boiler tube sheet after switching to orbital welding

Jumped ship after my first job went under and it felt like night and day honestly. Same here, once you make that break you wonder why you waited so long.

Old growth fir or engineered lumber for floor joists? I keep seeing guys rip out solid 2x10s for I-joists.

Has anyone actually looked at the real cost difference after you factor in labor for sistering those old joists if you ever need to open up a wall for plumbing? I bet the engineered stuff comes out way cheaper in the long run when you account for that.

My mom called me out on spoon placement last Sunday

Honestly, I used to think the same way until I had to rewash a whole load of dishes because one spoon was facing the wrong way? Ngl, what @finleyf88 said is spot on, it's really just about saving yourself from extra work later. Tbh once you start doing it, it becomes a habit and takes zero extra time.

That digital art marketplace everyone hyped? Total bait and switch.

Gotta push back on this one a little (respectfully of course). That 40% cut is actually pretty standard for managed marketplaces that handle payment processing, customer service, and fraud protection on your behalf. Think about it, if you sold on your own site you'd be paying 2-3% for Stripe plus whatever your hosting costs, and you'd get zero exposure from people browsing a platform. The $15 monthly fee is annoying, sure, but they're basically running ads and server infrastructure 24/7 for you. I checked out a few other sites and the "good" ones either take a similar cut or charge even more for premium placement. Maybe the real issue here is unrealistic expectations about how hard it is to build an art brand?
