PSA: the clipper blade got hot mid fade and I burned a kid's neck, so now I keep a spare blade in ice water
Halfway through a skin fade last week my blade was cooking and I didn't catch it until the kid flinched. I dropped it in a cup of ice water I had sitting on the counter, grabbed my backup, and finished the cut with no redness. How do you all keep blades cool during a back to back rush?
Man I felt this in my soul. Had the same thing happen during a Saturday rush, three kids in a row and my blade was so hot I could feel it through the guard. Kid didn't even flinch but I saw the skin get pink and I wanted to crawl under the chair. Now I keep two backups on rotation and a small bowl of cold water with a splash of rubbing alcohol, dip the blade between cuts and dry it on a towel so it doesn't rust. Takes two seconds and saves your rep.
