Picked a bowl of pho over a steak dinner for my last meal, no regrets
Had to actually decide this month after a cancer scare. My wife thought I was nuts passing on the $80 ribeye. But I grew up on my mom's pho from her little shop in Garden Grove. The steak was just food. The pho had 40 years of memory in it. They gave me the all clear, but I still think I made the right call. What would you pick if you had to choose between the fancy thing and the familiar thing?
Used to roll my eyes at people getting all misty over food, figured a meal was just a meal. After losing my dad and eating his chili recipe the night he passed, I get it now, some bites are the whole point.
