Ramen from a gas station beat my favorite restaurant bowl, still mad about it
Last month I stopped at a Love's in Oklahoma City on a road trip, grabbed their $3.50 cup noodles with the little veggie packet, and it was honestly better than the $14 tonkotsu I waited 45 minutes for in Denver. The broth had that perfect salty, fake-smoky thing going on, and the noodles were softer in a way that just hit right after driving for 6 hours. I have this theory that desperation plus hunger plus zero expectations is the real secret ingredient, not the actual food. Has anyone else had a trash-tier version of their favorite dish that secretly crushed the fancy one? What was it?
