Pro tip: I saw a post about using only three colors for a whole piece and it clicked for me.

Tell @rubyschmidt that creativity loves a little pressure. Maybe if Ryan tries painting with just raw umber and titanium white he'll understand, or maybe he'll just throw his brush at the wall. Guess there's only one way to find out.

I switched to chilling my mixing bowl for 15 minutes before making pie dough and it solved my sticky crust problem overnight

Betting the flour type matters more than the chill.

Tried a new toner formula on brassy hair and it turned mint green instead

Pulled a blue toner on orange hair once and got swamp green.

Showerthought: That time a random stranger at a dig site in New Mexico showed me the difference between a rock and an artifact

Did you ever go back and look for more stuff after that? Same thing happened to me once with a guy who told me to stop picking up every cool looking rock and start looking for the ones that looked "wrong" in a human way. Flake scars and edge wear are the big tells, but also look for rocks that don't match the local geology (like a piece of obsidian in a limestone area that shouldn't have any). That's usually a sign someone carried it there on purpose. It's one of those things where once you see it, you can't unsee it, and suddenly every hike turns into a slow scan of the ground.

Taco Bell's $5 big box got smaller last spring and nobody talks about it

Do you really think luck is that random though? I mean, yeah, getting broken chips in a bag sucks, but that's just a manufacturing thing, not some cosmic sign. I feel like people call bad luck way too many things that are just normal life stuff. A bad day at work isn't luck, it's just Tuesday. Maybe it's more about how you handle the small stuff rather than blaming it on luck.
