Customer asked why I charge 15 bucks to true a wheel when the internet says it takes 10 minutes
Had a guy pick up his Trek last Tuesday and he asked me straight up why a wheel true costs $15 when YouTube makes it look like a 10 minute job. I told him the truing itself is quick, but the part he's not seeing is that I check dish, tension every spoke by hand, and stress the wheel twice before it ever goes back on the stand. He went quiet for a second and then said he'd never thought about the wheel flexing again the second he rides off the curb. Now I'm wondering how many other folks think bike repair pricing is just about the clock. How do you all explain the stuff that doesn't show up on video to customers who only see the finished spin?
