Bailed on subtitles for years, then The Returned broke me

I used to refuse anything not in English, figured I'd miss half the action reading lines. Last month my buddy in Portland kept pushing The Returned, said I was sleeping on the best horror mystery ever. I caved one rainy Sunday and turned on the subs. Now I've burned through 3 foreign shows in 2 weeks, including Dark, and I feel like an idiot for gatekeeping my own TV time. Anyone else flip on subtitles late and find a whole new world of bingeing?

Watched Dark on a whim last spring and now I can't watch anything dubbed anymore.
