My sister told me I was skipping too many good episodes on Bojack Horseman

So I was doing this thing where I'd read recaps of episodes I thought looked boring and skip ahead to the funny parts. My sister caught me doing it and said I was basically ruining the whole show for myself, especially the sad backstory stuff. She pointed out that I missed the whole point because the depressing episodes are what make the funny ones actually hit harder. I went back and watched season 3 from the beginning without skipping anything and man, I got why people cry watching this cartoon horse. Has anyone else found that skipping the slow parts of a show kills the payoff later?

People want shortcuts for everything these days even the stuff that's supposed to make you feel something. It's like everyone's scared to just sit in an uncomfortable moment for a second.
