A guy at the Verizon store in Reno told me to clear my cache weekly and it made my phone worse
Six months ago my phone kept freezing on the camera app, so the guy at the store in Reno ran some cleanup tool and told me to clear my cache every week to keep it fast. I did it every Sunday like clockwork. After about 8 weeks the apps started taking forever to load, like 10 seconds just for maps, because they were rebuilding everything from scratch each time. I finally turned the auto clear off and left the cache alone and it went back to normal in 3 days. So the advice was real and the tool worked, but the habit was the problem, and I'm still not sure if I should blame the tech or the guy or myself for following it. Has anyone else had a "fix" from a store person that quietly made things worse?
