Vent: my Gen X boss told me in 2019 to never chase a raise, just get a new job
I worked at a hardware store in Dayton for 6 years and my boss Rick, who is solidly Gen X, told me that raises are a trap and the only real money comes from jumping ship every couple years. I ignored him because I liked my crew and thought loyalty meant something, then I found out the new kid hired off the street was making $2.50 more an hour than me. I finally left and got a $6 an hour bump somewhere else, so Rick was right and it still bugs me. Was that good advice or did his whole age group just give up on companies ever treating people fair?
