Back when I tracked game scores with a notepad and pencil

Now I just snap a photo of the board and log it in an app before my group even leaves the table - what finally pushed me over was losing three sets of game night notes in a row back in 2022 when my bag got soaked in the rain.

Rain soaked my entire binder back in 2019 and I lost 18 months of campaign notes for my D&D group. I was the same way, thought paper was the only real way to keep history. But @holly_sanchez75 I backup my app data to Google Drive and iCloud both, so even if the app dies I have the raw data files. Still keep a physical notebook for quick scribbles during play but the photo-to-app method is way faster than what I used to do with colored pens and graph paper.

Oh man, I feel that pain. Had a similar thing happen back in 2017 when my dog decided my notebook was a chew toy. Lost a whole campaign arc. Now I do both too - scan my handwritten notes into Google Drive right after each session using my phone camera. It's way faster than typing everything out and I still get the feel of writing by hand. Plus having them in Drive means I can search for stuff later when I forget what NPC I made up three months ago.

Used to think the old-school pen and paper way was more legit, but losing all my notes like that would totally push me over too. Do you ever worry about the app going down or losing your data?
