Spent $60 on a KS board game that still hasn't shipped 14 months later

Backed "Dungeon Lords: The Card Game" on Kickstarter thinking it looked cool. Now it's been over a year and they keep posting updates about art changes. I could have bought 3 good games from the store with that cash. Anyone else just done with backing stuff on KS?

60, that's a rough one. The real gamble isn't the game itself, it's if the creator's pet project turns into a full time job they never asked for.

Ugh, right? Suddenly you're running a free support desk for the one game you made to avoid actual work.

The community aspect is the real wild card too. You put something out there and next thing you know you've got a whole little group of people depending on you for updates, bug fixes, maybe even just moral support. It stops being a fun side project and turns into this obligation you didn't sign up for. I've watched a few indie creators burn out hard that way, they couldn't figure out where the hobby ended and the job began. Your mileage may vary of course, but that's a heavy load to carry for something that started as a gamble.
