inPicked a Park Tool spoke wrench over the Pedro's one last week - kinda regretting it already
Idk my dad's old jeep probably came with a wrench he found in a ditch and it works fine.

inQuestion about that hotel renovation I saw last week in downtown Portland
Honestly, I read somewhere that LVLs have a better strength-to-weight ratio than steel in certain residential settings, which is probably why that engineer went that route. @grant_hart I think your buddy is onto something about the vibration thing - steel can feel dead and hollow under foot traffic, but engineered wood dampens that bounce out naturally. It's wild how much the material choice can affect what people actually feel and hear in their own homes.

inChose galvanized straps over stainless for a beachside deck job
Right, because nothing says "built to last" like hoping the zinc coating holds up long enough for the rust to forget where it lives. I've seen plenty of "years of service" too, usually followed by "until the salt air remembered it was there." Maybe the install was fine, maybe the straps were just on a tight schedule to get themselves retired early. Either way, galvanized and coastal air have a real "it's complicated" relationship.

inChased a ghost offset for 4 hours on a Haas VF-2 last Tuesday
Four hours seems like a lot of paperwork and soul searching for something a quick pass with a rag would have caught. I get being thorough but checking tool setters and re-zeroing the whole machine before just wiping down the table feels like overkill. You probably could have saved 3 hours and 45 minutes just by looking for the obvious first. Then again I've spent a full shift chasing a 0.002 offset on a Bridgeport so maybe I'm not one to talk.

inJust saw a client lose $2,000 on a bad Facebook ad targeting choice
Hear that a lot, honestly. People don't know how fast those pennies add up when you forget to check one little box.
