Stumbled into a board game cafe in Portland and saw a whole new way to demo games

I was visiting Portland last weekend and walked into this place called The Game Knight. They had a system where each game came with a small card listing the play time, player count, and a one-sentence summary. That little detail made it so much easier to pick something without reading the whole rulebook. I also noticed they had a shelf of 'quick teach' games that could be explained in under 2 minutes. Why don't more game stores do this kind of thing? Has anyone else seen a setup like that at a cafe or store near them?

Agree with @kai_park missing the good stuff but honestly I'd still pick the wrong game even with a map and a guide dog.

Oh man, that sounds awesome! I mean maybe it's just me but I get totally overwhelmed staring at a wall of boxes and just end up grabbing the one with the coolest dragon on it. That card system is genius, like a little cheat sheet for my scattered brain. Honestly, I'd probably still pick the wrong game anyway because I'd get distracted by something shiny. But a 'quick teach' shelf? That's where I live, I need rules explained to me like I'm a golden retriever. I swear I've spent 45 minutes reading a rulebook and still had no clue how to start.

Tyler, I actually hate those cards because they leave out all the good stuff.
