Dropped $340 on a hydraulic tube roller before I checked what my shop actually needed
Six months back I got it in my head that my old manual roller was the reason my fit-ups were slow, so I ordered a hydraulic one. $340 plus freight. Waited three weeks for it. First job I put it on was a small waterwall panel, maybe 40 tubes, and the thing worked, sure. But here is the part that stung. I was still spending just as long on each tube because the real slowdown was my clamping setup, not the roller. My cousin works at a shop in Gary and he looked at my table and said the roller was never my problem. $340 on a tool I did not need when $60 in clamps and a better support stand fixed it. Sold the hydraulic one for $190 to a guy starting his own truck. Has anyone else bought a big tool before figuring out the actual bottleneck?
