A random chat with a librarian changed how I see reading
I was venting to this librarian at my local branch about how I couldn't finish a popular novel that everyone raves about. She just shrugged and said 'reading isn't a race, you know. DNF it and move on.' That hit me hard because I've been pushing through books I hate just to have something to talk about in meetings. It made me realize I was treating reading like homework instead of something for me. Has anyone else had a conversation that flipped their whole approach to books?

That librarian REALLY nailed it with the DNF advice.

I read somewhere that life's too short to read bad books and honestly that stuck with me. I used to feel so guilty for quitting a book but now I just toss it aside and grab something else, way less stressful that way.

@rubyschmidt That advice changed my whole reading game haha. Last week I finally DNF'd a book that was driving me CRAZY after 100 pages and it felt SO freeing. Now I'm actually excited to pick up something new instead of forcing myself through a slog.
