Pro tip: Skipping the audiobook narrator and reading the print version first changed everything

My book club was stuck on a debate about Beartown by Fredrik Backman last month... everyone loved the audiobook but I felt like I missed half the nuance. I tried reading the print version first before listening and it made the group discussion way better for me. I caught 3 specific character arcs I'd skimmed over in audio alone. Has anyone else noticed a big difference between how they absorb a book depending on the format?

... I mean, it's just a book, right? I don't know if missing a couple character arcs is that big of a deal, most of the time you get the general idea either way. Seems like some people make a whole project out of reading.
