The kudzu at my aunt's place in Asheville ate her fence and I think it's beautiful
My aunt lives outside Asheville and her back fence is just gone, buried under kudzu that swallowed it in two summers flat. Everyone in the family calls it a disaster but I stood out there last weekend and honestly the way it drapes over the posts looks like a green waterfall. People act like an invasive vine is a moral failing instead of just a plant doing what plants do, and I think that hate is mostly about property values, not botany. Does anyone else think we are too quick to call something a weed just because it grows faster than we planned?
So when the kudzu finally pulls down the power lines or swallows a native patch that took decades to grow, is it still just a plant doing plant things? Where do you draw the line between hating it for the wrong reasons and admitting it actually wrecks stuff?
