Serious question, a guy on my bus commute swore I should start Poirot with the 1989 episodes, and after 14 stops I finally get why
I ride the 7:15 bus from Queens into Midtown every morning, about 45 minutes each way, so I burn through a lot of shows on my phone. A guy who sits two rows up noticed I was watching detective stuff and gave me very specific advice: skip the new Poirot movies, start with the old TV series from 1989, specifically the episode The Adventure of the Clapham Cook. I nodded and forgot about it for a week. Then I had a rough Tuesday and just tried it on stop 4 of my ride home. By stop 14 I was mad I hadn't listened sooner. The pacing is slower but it fits the bus. Each episode is short, so I can finish one before my transfer, and the little grey cells thing actually makes me pay attention instead of scrolling. I told him thank you the next day and he just said, see, nobody listens the first time. Now I'm wondering what other stuff I've waved off from strangers on transit. Has anyone else gotten good show advice from a random commuter, and did you actually try it?
