20 years laying brick and I just learned my trowel grip was wrong
Was working a job in Columbus last month with this kid, maybe 25, watching me lay a wall. He asks if my wrist hurts at the end of the day. I said yeah, always figured that was part of it. He shows me this grip where you hold the handle looser and let the trowel do the work. Tried it for one row and my hand felt completely different. Been doing it the hard way since Clinton was president. Any other old heads out here still gripping too tight or did everyone else figure this out ages ago?
I mean, 20 years of calluses and you're just now trying something new... that kid probably watches YouTube videos about it. Sure, maybe it helps some folks, but I've seen guys lay brick with their pinky sticking out and still last 30 years on the wall.
