Rant: $90 on a laser level that can't handle sunlight

Bought one of those green beam laser levels online for a patio job last month. Looked awesome in the garage but outside at 10am it was basically invisible. Tried the receiver attachment and still had to double check everything with a string line. Total waste for a beginner mistake, should've just borrowed my buddy's rotary laser. Anyone else get burned by indoor tools on outdoor work?
