Rant: The mortar mixer died on the hottest day of the year and I lost a whole day of work
Last Tuesday it hit 98 degrees here in Bakersfield and I had a full wall to lay at a house on Vine Street. About 20 minutes in, the old paddle mixer just quit on me, so I spent an hour driving around trying to rent one because every place was already out for the day. By the time I got back and got the mud going, it was almost noon and I'd lost half my daylight. Ended up finishing at 9pm with a headlamp, which is not how you want to lay block when you're already beat. Anybody got a backup mixer setup they swear by for days like this?
