That new mortar mix at the supply yard is garbage

I grabbed a pallet of that pre-blended stuff from the big orange store last week and my joints were crumbling by day two. Anyone else stick with just sand and cement no matter what the sales rep pushes?

Did you let it cure slow enough with a wet cover? I've had that same problem when I rushed the drying, but a good slow cure usually fixes it for me.

Slow cure is key, @felixfisher, just like letting chili sit overnight.
