Showerthought: My budget bean bake tried to escape the oven

I was trying to make a cheap casserole with dried beans I got on sale. Soaked them overnight, mixed in some leftover veggies and a can of tomato sauce. Put it in the oven and went to watch TV. Next thing I know, there's a loud popping noise from the kitchen. I run in and find bean juice bubbling out all over the oven door. Turns out I forgot to vent the lid, so pressure built up and blew it off. The whole kitchen smelled like tomatoes and regret for days. Had to scrape dinner off the oven, but we still ate it, so money saved I guess.

Three times, my budget meals have rebelled... I should probably read instructions.

What kind of meals are we talking about here, canned stuff or the dry mixes? Ngl, the powdered stuff can get weird if you don't add the water first or mix it cold. Tbh, I've found just slowing down for two seconds to scan the steps saves a ton of money and frustration. Burnt rice or gloopy noodles feels like the food itself is fighting back.

It's like cheap food fights back when you don't give it enough respect...
